The big arm of the law has come down and smitten several programmers over at Hungry Programmers, as evidently many of their programming team were, this past January 14th, involved in an FBI raid where the FBI was searching for the leaked source code to Half-Life 2. During the raid evidently many computers were siezed, as well as other various equipment, and as per this quote from the blog of one of the programmers, the FBI wasn't to specific on what exactly they were searching for:
I was questioned by the FBI agent in charge and a Secret Service agent at length about the Hungry Programmers, people I used to live with, whether particular people had the capacity/knowledge to do what they were investigating, etc. During the questioning she says "Now we're going to take all your computers." She sees the look on my face and says "Yeah, this is going to be hard for you." I said "uh, when will I get them back?" She said it depends, that they'd try to have them all back as soon as possible, but it depends on if they find anything suspicious on them. If they found contraband (kiddie porn, talk of drugs, or stuff they were actually looking for), that particular computer would never be coming home.
Man, talk about taking something to the extreme, but then again, anymore intellectual property is very very important, and people will go to extremes to keep it secure. Or could this be just another publicity stunt? The world may never know.

Given how the FBI is supposed to have a 'handled' the raid on Steve Jackson's pc's (famous for the GURPS rpg) simply because they 'thought' that his cyberpunk-expansion for Gurps could be used to commit crimes ...
I'd say : ... they aren't ever going to see them again.

Man that's nuts. I hope they catch the people who stole the code but at the same time I hope they do so in an ethical way.
