Well look who needs us now?!? Our good friends at Voodoo Extreme are reporting some very, very interesting news. Here is a partial news rip (you need to see all the tidbits) and then I'll comment on it.It was announced yesterday that David J. Fremed, the current Chief Financial Officer of Atari, had resigned, effective immediately. While the release stated that he was leaving of his own free will to move onto pastures new, comments in a GameSpot article suggest otherwise:

"There just isn't anyone really running the shop. And in the last two years, some people who shouldn't be there snuck in and have taken a lot of power. It's a tough place to work now."
Another staffer expressed surprise at the move, stating that Fremed was part of Atari's "inner circle." Commenting further, the staffer elaborated, saying, "Everyone in upper management at Atari has the same future...eventually they need to leave and take the blame or they stay and take the bullet."As Andy points out there is a lot riding on the success of UT2004 for Atari right now. With a lot of blundering moves lately, (too much fluff money spent on crap games, shutting down fan favorite developer Legend), they are definitely in an interesting position. They need help from some of the very fans they pissed off last year. Someone definitely needs to remind them not to bite the hands that feed them.

nah my dad was kinda a geek when it came to consoles.

he had all the versions of the atari console, the Nintendo consoles and the sega consoles.

we played many hours of Mario Kart on the N64
and Many hours of Dr. Mario on the Nintendo and SNES

In those famous words:

You get what you dish out.

They closed Legend, and now, I do believe, Karma is biting them in the butt for it.
