Doom 3

OMG.. that where my first words when i played Doom3.. it was dark, scary, heavy graphics, nice shadows, and it gives me nightmares...
anyone played it yet? its realy cool, exept that its to scary for me..
but fuck it is cool..

Gamestop are a bunch of lazy bastards that can't seem to obtain games on release. So I have a day or two to wait. Please tell me more about the game without spoilers.

Great to hear! I preordered mine through Best Buy to get the mancumbus pewter dude. However, I refuse to buy the game until my final is over on thursday. Smile

Got the game last night and I agree with Cheetah on all accounts. Although I only played a little bit because it was getting late and I was trying to tweak my low-end system to make the most of it.

1800+
1GB Dual DDR
9600 Pro AIW

I had it set to 800x600 and High Quality, but it was just too choppy for me (and I'm not that picky.) I turned it to medium quality and still think the game looks amazing, but then I went to Overclocking so I could maybe turn up the res or something.

I ended up with reboots and it was getting late so I decided to try again tonight. Too bad I'm going to Niagara Falls on Vacation this weekend and so I need to get things ready. I decided to lend me computer to a friend who's CPU burned out a while back. He's in shock, but didn't decline the offer! I think he will be happy if he puts my CPU and RAM in his computer with his clean OS and 9700 Pro.

He was going to come over tonight to get it, but I may decide to make him wait until Friday now that I've had a taste. It's delicious!!

it was released august 3th.. so that was yesterday..
i played the higherst quality, on 1280x1024.. and it was just just.. a bit to low for a FPS.. but i managed.. i set the brightness up a bit and im now on high quality.. i havent played it yet, but i assum its better.

what do i do when its to scary.. i dont dare to play on.. i never died.. ingame.. but tho.. its scary.. not difficult.. but..
sometimes it scares me so much i push my keyboard and mouse.. like a spastic shock reaction.. so scary it is..

Good Lord, the game is beautiful but runs at a steady pace of 11-12 fps for me!!! Sad

It's far too frustrating to play at that speed. The worst part is I have already tried the optimizations in the config and they helped a bit but Im still in the low teens for fps.

I even am running at 640x480 on low quality with almost everything turned off!!!

I know my gfx card sucks but this is still above min requirements.
2.66 ghz P4
Nvidia FX 5200
512 DDR ram
Audigy 2
80 gig

Yes, but I've seen people with very similar setups run the game at close to double the frames with the same vid card.

Besides I am technically a bit over the minimum specs and thats supposed to be playable?!?!?! What were they thinking when the posted those specs?!?!?!?

I'd hate to imagine what someone with min specs would run like.....5fps???

what other "crap" do you have running at the same time?

look at the task bar and make sure theres not much there. (definately turn off AIM and other messengers, turn off norton and etc....)
