problem with PC

hey all.
i am not a realy good at doing stuff with intern hardware. (hardware in my computer)

so i asked around for some old computers. well i got 1, and probably gonna get another one in a few days.
i got 2 problems so far with this one.
1. when i start it up, the monitor says it has no signal.
i DID connected the PC and monitor.
2. i blew up my power supply.. Rolling Eyes

if i can get it to work again, i wouls still have the no signal problem.
so does anyone know why that heapens?
the computer seems to run, and so does the monitor, but it gets no signal..?

if you cannot help me, maybe you know some good wesbite that can help me building a computer and setting it up.

did you plug in the monitor to the wall Wink

try plugging the monitor into another computer. that no work = fried monitor cable

other than that vid card is fried or pc is junk to begin with Confused

i guess saying "I DID connected the PC and monitor." isnt enough now is it?
how can i get the no signal message if there is no power?

well, i tested it on another computer, and the monior does work.
anyone know why my computer isnt sending the signal to the monitor?

uhhhh, what's the link between the computer and the monitor?

exactly vidcard. get a new one. that one has to be dead

to be honest, get a Radeon 9000 Pro 128mb card. their around 50-60 bucks, and their a 128mb card!

no i wont, it is just some cheap old PC i am gonna use for trying to learn to build computers, build a network, and test stuff out.
not gonna put a expensif card in it. Very Happy

really crappy but they offer 16bit color Smile

how much will that be?

i am realy not planning on paying alot of mony to build up that PC.
i am getting another one tomorow (or verry soon if not tomorow)
ill see what ill do, maybe i can get it working.
i realy dont know about buying new hardware, couse i was using this PC to learn and test out some stuff. couse i didnet knew anything about the internaly hardware.
so far i learned:
1. how to destroy you power supply
2. add/remove a CD drive
3. add/remove a floppy drive
4. add/remove a hard drive (dont know about jumpers yet)

think thats about it.
dont know how to do stuff with mother boards, or cards.
so i am afraid i will do something wrong if i buy a new card and it will only cost me mony that way.

hope you can all understand.

ill have to see, have to know what it all costs and everything, and what cards are it? i read above, but i mean, can they do 3D. and how good are they etc. dont know much about it

like i said above, they can do 16bit color (not top of the line but really close) and they can run UT not 2k3 but regular UT and anything below that. they can do very little 3D, they will not be able to do any of the high end stuff, like newer games. they can however do excellent at playing any of the half life games (not HL2) and they are good at woord processors Wink
