DrSiN on UT2004 testing

Rumour has been going around that Epic will be inviting a few “Pro Community” players to help test the game and make suggestions for improvements. DrSiN gave his own response on the matter:I have no idea if these guys were really invited here. I know Mark was talking about bringing in some of the competitive players to play it but he would have to come here and say if he did or not, I wouldn't know.

I do know this. First we actually read and listen to the feedback from everyone and then WE decide what's right for the game and what's not. That includes average players, mass market players, competitive players, mod authors, etc. At the same time, we look at those suggestions as to how they would affect all players, not just a single group.

Also, as to the game not being in a testable state, I'd have to disagree. 300+ people will be "testing" it in a week at the Unreal University and while we are still tweaking some things, the game modes that would be most appealing to those guy have been done for quite some time now.Feedback? PICK ME! PICK ME! humm... how many days have I got to get a "Pro Community Player" status? (skipping school, eating and sleep to play UT2k3 to get into UT2k4 testing sounds awfully nice)

personally i think that the unreal convention (our Unreal Expo and the Unreal University thingy next weekend) idea is going to be a pretty good representation of the Pro Community.

i wa wondering if we were gunna be able to test out the current build of 2k4 during the unreal university thingy and i guess we will!

If the stuff has been so ready for so long, then why the delayed release?
Im sure there are valid reasons for this, but Im just afraid that if UT2k4 doesnt "strike while the iron's hot" then it will end up not getting the support and the distibution that it deserves, and I think its about time UT got a little more elevation of its status in the gaming world and start to really dominate because it really deserves it.
