okey guys, iv been using Internet Explorer my whole life. i dont see whats wrong with it.
if anyone can tell me the benefits of a new browser, and what is so bad about IE, please post it here.
and if i instal that, how does it go, couse IE is integrated into Windows. it starts when you open a webpage, or can you set a new program as default browser?

thanks all.

use mozilla man. www.mozilla.org
its good. not like the crap MS produced. when you start mozilla it loads a few seconds but then..... wwwwwoooooaaaahhhh! what a speed! ah, and you got a composer, adressbook and mailprog in it. and i dunno, but it`s much better. got`s a pop up killer too and some other brilliant options.

cool..
still dont see the big advantage of it, couse it laods slow at the beginning, but the rest depends on ya internet speed, not realy on the browser??
if your on dial up, its gonna be slow, mozilla or not

You can’t go wrong with any of the main competing browsers:

Mozilla 1.6
Mozilla FireBird 0.7
Opera 7.5 (Edit - Oops, 7.5 is still in beta. It’s 7.23 at the moment.)

In my opinion, new Mozilla users would be better off looking at Mozilla 1.6. If you are feeling adventurous, go for FireBird. Opera is good for anyone, although it is not as customisable as any of the Moz browsers.

Broken PNG support ever since it was implemented.
Web-standards support out of date by 3 years.
VBScript and ActiveX insecurities.
Proprietary JavaScript implementation.
Plethora of CSS bugs. (See web-standards support.)
Poor cookie and cache management.

To name a few.

i dont even know what that is..
i guess IE is fine if you are not that technical with all that stuff. it browses webpages, and thats what its made for.

The trick is, IE doesn't view pages properly, that's what Mr. Brownstone is getting at with his statements. All advancements in the last 3-4 years are not able to be viewed in internet explorer, where as in browsers that are still being actively developed (Like Mozilla, Firebird, and Opera) do support these features.

Also, they have more features such as popup blocking, script protection, tabbed browing, and the like, which makes them a more powerful platform for browsing the web.

Take for instance my website at http://www.peoii.com/ , I've had to do some seriously nasty code pieces to get it to look properly in IE, where as other browsers it "just works" with Wink

In my opinion, Firebird is by far the best choice, and 0.8 is on it's way shortly (url in my sig). (Firebird loads just as fast as IE on my system, another bonus)

Try it, you may find you love it.

"beta" isn't exactly the term that would be used.

Is it in "pre-1.0"? Yes, it is, but it's far from "beta".

It's on the 8th "milestone" of the design process, and they have even more ideas coming in at the 1.0 stage, however those havn't been added yet.

And yes, it's even better than IE in it's current form. Just imagine it at 1.0 Wink

Here's the basic rundown for you:

Mozilla has Email, Webbrowing, News Groups, an HTML editor, all that, in 1 suite. Firebird is the web browsing component of that ONLY. To which there is also Thunderbird which is the email portion only, and Sunbird which is the calendar portion only. Advantage to the seperation is speed and the ability to choose. The pieces load quicker, and you can pick which parts you want to use out of the suite.

So while Firebird may be in "0.7" right now, that's based on the Mozilla 1.5 code engine, and 0.8 will be based on the Mozilla 1.6 engine. Again, it's very far from "beta", and I use it daily without any issues what so ever. They just havn't added all the features yet that will be in the 1.0 build, hence there is no reason to just jump up in the build numbers.

Trust me, I think you'll like it if you give it a shot.
