Extray, extray, Open GL 2.0 Released! Read all about it!

/end 20's newspaper boy impression

Anyway, I just saw over at Beyond3d that Open GL 2.0 has been released. For those of you not in the know, Open GL is the front-running competitive renderer against the DirectX backed Direct3D... D3D is a Microsoft baby, while OpenGL ... well, you can read about that here. Gives a good bit of info on the history of it.

For those of you more interested in what's new, check out the news here. I still prefer D3D, but maybe that's just me. For those of you who have a preference, which do you like more, and why? OpenGL or Direct3D ? |

OpenGL may be 'open', but it runs like crap in Windows.

Or at least it just doesn't work whenever you've got more than 1 monitor/graphics card on your system.

Direct3D otoh does work under those circumstances.

Besides : even if a game uses OpenGL it still has to use DirectX for every other aspect unless they feel like reinventing the wheel ... |

Bein a Linux/Windows gamer, I definately prefer OpenGL. Even in Windows, I just like it better, and I've found it much less crash prone in the long run. |
