I have been a way on a camping trip, thanx for covering for me Raven, so this may be older news. FilePlanet's Tribes Vengeance multiplayer beta has truly opened up. I am downloading it right now. I will make sure to update the forums with my impressions when I get time to sit down with T:V. So if you haven't already tried T:V out hop on over to FilePlanet and grab this beta. There is some basic registration required and you need at least a FilePlanet basic membership. Have a happy and safe holiday! |

My first impression is that T:V is pretty fly. I like games with inventory systems and rearm stations. It is kinda like Planetside light. I will make sure to pick this up based on this beta. I only worry that T:V may get repetitve but it most games are. The netcode could use some work also.

If you are new to T:V i would recommend you check out this guide by TribalWar.

Keep a look out for me, WarZone, on the T:V servers |

There's no support for bots in multiplayer though, which means you either pick an empty server and pray people join or you can wait for an opening in one of the full servers.

Guess what the majority is doing ? ... yup ... waiting for a position in an already full server. |

I would assume and hope that T:V will come with bot support. After playing a couple of more rounds the network code needs some major work. So while they fix it I would like to perfect my play with some bots. My only real complaint is where is the crouch button?

I will still be picking this one up. |

I have only played with three. There are four according to the T:V Tribalwar guide.

Rover

Jump Tank

Assault Ship

Fighter |

The Rover, Bomber, Jump Tank, and "Pod" are all in the demo. I'm also assuming there will be some sort of Transport ship, as they've been in every single tribes up to this point.... And it's a VERY popular way of moving heavies around the battle field.

Overall though, excellent game. Look for me on the servers if you wish, under the name of Peoii (duh) |

cool, id like to play with one of you sometime.. i like it. couse its free probably..

o i asked, theres no crouch function.. so thats why you cant find it..

alot of things i dont understand about the game yet, and the netcode sucks (realy when driving)

but i like the game anyway, tho im not a fan of that sort of games, i like simpeler FPS, like ut2004. not XMP style..

but its nice..

is it free when its released to? |

I am sure T:V will sell for the manufactures suggested retail price of $39.99 to $49.99. |

and don't forget that there's the officially sanctioned Mechwarrior-mod set in the Tribes-universe for T:V as well.

As for net-code ... are you sure you aren't playing on a server run by an incompetent admin ? (usually easy to recognise by the "another TV server" description).

Besides it is a beta ... I hope the 'official' mp-demo will have fixed bugs.

// Burgess :

There is an 'official' singleplayer-campaign for off-line use planned.

Altough in theory that should give us bots for mp-games, but from what I've heard so far and with the trackrecord of the Tribes-series so far there's no chance we'll get bots for teammates in on-line games. |

Just incase everyone hasn't read this 20 times today

	  | Quote: |

Tribes: Vengeance is almost done. It's been quite a trip. Video game development takes a long time. It's been nearly three years since we first got the call from the Sierra guys with a simple question: "Hey, what do you guys think of Tribes?"

Frankly, I was suprised they were thinking of Irrational for this game. After all, wasn't Tribes a multiplayer, team-oriented shooter? What about Freedom Force, System Shock 2 and Thief made them think we were the team of choice for this project? "Well," they said, "we really want this game to have a story..."

The biggest challenge for us was the fact that we were making two games. One of which (the single player) we had a fair amount of experience with. The other, (the multiplayer) we had a lot to learn. And to school ourselves, we turned to three solutions. First, we had a team at Sierra (Thrax, Menzo, Marweas) that lived, breathed, and quite likely eat Tribes. Second, we expanded the team to include people like Michael Johnston to make sure we were on the right track. And finally, and perhaps most importantly, we listened to the community.

Let me just say this: The Tribes community is freaking nuts. I've never seen such a passionate, intense, vocal and dedicated group of fans. It has been an honor and pleasure to come into this fully formed community and try to make something that looks, sounds, plays and _feels_ right to them. It has been challenging, confusing, frustrating, perplexing, and incredibly rewarding. We've done our level best. The game is nearly there. But that's not the end. Because Tribes has, and always will, belong to the community. That's what Tribes: Vengeance is more moddable and flexible than any other Tribes game. We wait to see what you think of what we've done, and perhaps more importantly, how you are going to top us. |
