NY Times features UT in it's two page Grass-roots story on user baced game Mods, which show cases Epic/Unreal Tournament and the development crew for Red Orchestra. The article encompasses every thing from what a mod is to why game developers shipped their tools with their game so that WE could rip it apart and make some thing all our own. It also adds some info about the second DVD or our "Complete Mod Guide for Dummies" that's being done by the 3DBuzz.com group that will ship with the special edition 2004 package..... The article includes quotes from aspiring moders and future develpoers from Full Sail, an acclaimed game design school dedicated to "Centering The Education In The Heart Of The Industry That It Server." along with propeling the creative mind; the article also cases opinions from some of the people present at Unreal University and quotes from the crew at Epic!
"This is one of the very few entertainment mediums in which you see this kind of organic process happen," said Mr. Bleszinski, whose highlight-streaked, tossed blond hair gives him a skater-boy aura. "I think this industry is really kind of grounded a lot closer to its fans, to its roots, than a lot other businesses." (N.Y. Times) Its a really nice read which I enjoyed; and gives kudos to developers that cater to the community, and to the people who help to light the fire progresses the field......
